Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to everyone!
Another year goes by and another year begins today. Many of us look towards the new year as a fresh new start and a new list of resolutions whether it's for wealth, happiness, love or health. It's a positive step to writing down your goals, but an even greater one, to follow through with your actions. There is a saying that "all decisions are made with your heart, then reasoned with logic." It's important to understand yourself and what your heart truly desires. And if you can discern what your heart truly desires, and you follow through, you will live your life without any regret. It's through practice, prayer, and meditation we can find our center and take steps closer to understanding ourselves and our actions. In 2012, instead of writing resolutions that you think will help you to improve yourself, think deep down inside and have a discourse with your heart and follow it. That is the only way to live without regret and live happily.

Again. Happy New Year

"How Meditation May Change the Brain"
Writer : 국제선센터   2011-12-30 14:35:52

There has always been debate about whether meditation is truly effective or not, whether it can help increase calmness or mental focus. Very rarely, some even claim that it may have negative effects. But more and more recently as meditation is starting to become widespread and more well known around the globe there have been more studies and testimony in favor of meditation and its ability to strengthen the human mind in many ways. Although meditation has been a form of mental practice for all religions for thousands of years, the scientific studies of meditation are very young, but it already appears as though there are many benefits that can be attained from daily practice.

Here is an article written by a new york times journalist about the effects of meditation. It's a very interesting topic and although the article is written as an informal anecdote, it presents some studies and cases that are very interesting.

If you wish to learn more, I recommend you attend our weekly Dharma Schools located here at the International Seon Center where we hold beginner meditation classes. For more questions or comments feel free to post them below.
