마음이 모든 선한 일의 전조네.

마음이 주인되어 모든 일을 시키니

깨끗한 마음으로 말하거나 행동하면

행복이 그를 뒤따르리.

영원히 떠나지 않는 그림자처럼.

Mind is the forerunner of (all good) states.

Mind is chief; mind-made are they.

If one speaks or acts with pure mind,

because of that, happiness follows one,

even as one's shadows that never leaves.

心爲法本心尊心使中心念善卽言卽行福樂自追如影隨形 .(2)

마음이 모든 악한 일의 전조네

마음이 주인되어 모든 일을 시키니

나쁜 마음으로 말하거나 행동하면

괴로움이 그를 뒤따르리.

수레바퀴가 황소 발굽을 뒤따르듯이.

Mind is the forerunner of (all evil) states.

Suffering follows one,

even as the wheel follows the hoof of the draught-ox.
