삼가하라 / Be heedful, not heedless

지성이라곤 거의 없는 바보들은

게으르고 부주의한 데 빠져들지만,

현명한 사람은 근면을

최고의 보배로 여기며 지켜내네.

Fools, men of little intelligence,

give themselves over to negligence,

but the wise man protects

his diligence as a supreme treasure.

愚人意難解貪亂護諍訟上智常重愼護斯爲寶尊 .(26)

현명한 사람은 한결같은 노력과 진지함,

엄격한 규율과 자기 제어로

스스로 섬(피난처)을 만드니

거센 홍수도 어쩌지 못하리.

By sustained effort, earnestness,discipline, and self control,

let the wise man make for himself an island

which no flood overwhelms.

發行不放逸約以自調心慧能作定明不返冥淵中 .(25)

활기찬 사람은 번성한다 / The energetic prosper

활기차고, 사려깊고, 행실이 순결하고,

(선악을) 구별하며, 스스로를 잘 다스리고

방일하지 않는 사람은 누구나

그 명성이 더욱 탄탄하게 늘어나네.

Whosoever is energetic, mindful, pure in conduct,

discriminating, self-restrained, right-living, vigilant,

his fame steadily increases.

正念常興起行淨惡易滅自制以法壽不犯善明增 .(24)
