Ah, happily do we live without hate among the hateful;

amidst hateful men we dwell unhating.

我生已安不慍於怨衆人有怨我行無怨

증오에 찬 사람들 속에서도 증오 없이 살아가니

아! 얼마나 행복한가.

증오에 찬 사람들 속에서도

우리는 증오하지 않고 살아가네. (197)

Lead a pure and noble life / 청정하고 고매한 삶을 살라

Not insulting, not harming,

restraint according to the Fundamental Moral Code,

moderation in food, secluded abode, intent on high thoughts,

-this is the Teaching of the Buddhas.

不嬈亦不惱如戒一切持少食捨身貪

有行幽隱處意諦以有黠是能奉佛敎

남을 비방하지도 괴롭히지도 않고,

근본 계율에 따라 삼가며, 음식을 적절히 하고,

은둔자로 살아가며 더 높은 생각에 집중하는 것.

이것이 부처님들의 가르침이네. (185)

Do good and be good / 착한 일을 하고, 착해지라

Not to do any evil,

to cultivate good,

to purify one's mind,

-this is the Teaching of the Buddhas.

諸惡莫作諸善奉行自淨其意是諸佛敎

아무런 악도 하지 말고

착한 일을 열심히 행하며,

스스로의 마음으르 깨끗이 닦을지니.

이것이 부처님들의 가르침이네. (183)
